Christmas in the Highlands
An Invitation to our Festive Family Home.
"If you plan to be away from your home during the coming festive season… welcome to ours"
"Pool House is a visual feast for the senses. No wonder that it is listed as one of the most chic retreats in the world. Just imagine spending December 25 there - Heaven." - Scotland on Sunday
This year, we at Pool House are looking to share Christmas with some merry company. Maybe you’re looking for a cosy winter retreat in a rugged, snow-kissed setting, where you can brave the stunning outdoors before returning to mince pies and a wee dram in front of the welcoming log fire (don’t worry Santa will still be able to visit). Or perhaps you are with friends looking for the perfect country home with lavish Victorian style décor, a profusion of garlands, swags and Christmas trees and a dash of Dickensian magic.
Whether it’s a family affair or a festive celebration among friends, we will make sure that Christmas is an extra special occasion. Pool House will be getting into the spirit of the season with candles, mantelpieces dressed with holly and ivy, extravagant Christmas trees, and, not to mention, the permeating aroma of roasting chestnuts and hot mulled wine. Enjoy a Champagne reception on Christmas Eve, followed by a candlelit dinner before bed. Awaken on Christmas Day to presents under the tree; be treated to a special breakfast with Bucks Fizz and later, a traditional Christmas dinner, of which the main spectacle is undoubtedly our flaming Christmas pudding – look out for the hidden trinkets! For something a little different on Boxing Day, a delightful supper in our barbecue hut, dressed for the season with fairy lights, lanterns and candles, whilst keeping cosy on deerskin rugs. Later, retire to the “Henry Bacon” Room where the cheeseboard and Port await you.
Arrive on Christmas Eve and the house is yours until after breakfast on the 27th.
£625 per person (based on two people sharing) for three days (24th/25th/26th) dinner, bed and breakfast, afternoon teas, festive gift.
A Highland Hogmanay
If you’re looking for the perfect winter retreat to bid farewell to the old year and welcome in the new, Pool House may be the perfect place for you. Surrounded by rugged, snow topped mountains, a fast flowing river and the sea just a few feet away, it is hard to imagine a more dramatic setting for your celebrations.
New Year’s Eve will begin with a huge breakfast, after which you can explore the beautiful local scenery or simply unwind with board games and jigsaw puzzles in the library. In the evening, after Champagne and canapés, the seven course feast will begin! Later, join your fellow guests in the billiard room and enjoy searching through our large whisky collection in the “malt room” for the perfect dram. See what you can win in our balloon raffle, then wrap up warm to welcome in the New Year in the only manner fitting for such an occasion…….. with lots of bubbly and a super firework display over the loch. On New Year’s day after “brunch”, there will be plenty of time to rest, relax and be pampered before meeting in the cosy atmosphere of the “Henry Bacon” Room for a table laden with home-baking including scones, pancakes, black bun, festive cakes and of course, a traditional Cloutie Dumpling and to finish the day, yet another fabulous dinner. Off to bed with a mug of mulled cider and guaranteed sweet dreams.
Arrive on the 30th December for your three night break at £750 per person (based on two people sharing) to include dinner, bed & breakfast, afternoon tea, champagne, chocolates, gifts & fireworks.
